Rest in Peace
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...'WOW, what a ride!!!' "

"I can't begin to tell you the immense pride and the deep love that I feel for My Girls. In them I see the unmistakable beauty of their mother but I humor myself by believing they each carry a part of me in their personalities. Alessa inherited my intellect although she must have gotten some on her own to go with it as she is much brighter than her pop. Danyelle got my work ethic and my fighting spirit, but like her sister she has developed that to a point where she will take on her old man and actually back him down when she knows he's wrong. Mylinda got my heart and will inherit my 60's and 70's music collection one of these days too. As a team I'm no match for them. When I screwed things up real bad, Alessa had the good sense to figure out what to do, Danyelle had the nerve to get in my face and win my attention and then Mylinda was there just to love me through it."
"I am blessed
beyond understanding and I thank God for My Girls."

Being a fanatic about horsepower and torque carries over to my two-wheel toys too. I chose the Honda VTX 1800 as my "Street Fighter" and the Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic as my "Road Hog".
Freedom Isn't Free
Love of country, respect for
the flag and obligation of service were instilled during my early years. Being a
child of the sixties, I was raised watching the war in Viet Nam as well as all
of the protests on the streets and campuses on the evening news. I ended up
celebrating my 20th birthday in the central highlands of Viet Nam with the 173rd
Airborne Infantry Brigade.
My grandfather was a combat veteran of the
first World War serving in Europe. He had two sons, both of whom served in
combat during World War II in Europe. My father had two sons, both of whom
served in combat during the Vietnam War. I'm kind of proud of that, and I am so
proud of my heritage. "Brothers
In Arms" goes to the heart of that honor.
The four men below are my heroes.
Grandpa M. Albert Hopper U.S. Army WWI
Dad Donald A Hopper U.S. Army
WWII
Uncle Gene Raymond E Hopper U.S. Army WWII

Brother Rock Rockie J Hopper U.S. Air Force -
Vietnam
Having felt the pains of war compounded by the thankless reception that many of our veterans received when they came home, you'll probably notice my high esteem for veterans. I do not consider myself among the walking wounded (PTSD) although every soldier carries the scars of battle until the day he's laid to rest. After carrying my Grandfather's and then my Dad's flag draped coffins to their resting places, it's with a certain pride known only to veterans that my brother and I earned our flags in Vietnam.

Growing up in the sixties gave me the chance to watch Todd Stiles and Buzz Murdock on "Route 66". That launched a life long love affair with the Corvette and the open road. (Funny thing, we only had black & white TV and I always thought their Vette was RED!) I've grown some since then, but have never outgrown my passion for these cars.

Minister passing through his church
In the middle of the day, Decided to pause by the altar And see who had come to pray. Just then the back door opened, A man came down the aisle;
The minister frowned as he saw
The man hadn't shaved in a while. His shirt was kind a shabby And his coat was worn and frayed, The man knelt, he bowed his head, T hen rose and walked away. In the days that followed, Each noon time came this chap, Each time he knelt just for a moment, A lunch pail in his lap. Well, the minister's suspicions grew, With robbery a main fear, He decided to stop the man and ask him, 'What are you doing here?' The old man said he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour. Lunchtime was his prayer time, For finding strength and power. 'I stay only moments, see, Because the factory is so far away; As I kneel here talking to the Lor d, This is what I say: 'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY,
BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.
SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM CHECKING IN TODAY.' The minister feeling foolish, Told Jim, that was fine. He told the man he was welcome To come and pray just anytime. Time to go, Jim smiled, said 'Thanks' He hurried to the door. The minister knelt at the altar, He'd never done it before. His cold heart melted, warmed with love, And met with Jesus there. As the tears flowed, in his heart, He repeated old Jim's prayer: 'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKING IN TODAY' Past noon one day, the minister noticed That old Jim hadn't come.. As more days passed without Jim, He began to worry some. At the factory, he asked about him, Learning he was ill. The hospital staff was worried, But he'd given them a thrill. The week that Jim was with them, Brought changes in the ward. His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people, were his reward. The head nurse couldn't understand Why Jim was so glad, When no flowers, calls or cards came, Not a visitor he had. The minister stayed by his bed, He voiced the nurse's concern: No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn Looking surprised, old Jim spoke Up and with a winsome smile; 'the nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, That in here all the while Everyday at noon He's here, A dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down, takes my hand, Leans over and says to me: 'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN. ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY, THINK ABOUT YOU EACH DAY, AND SO JIM, THIS IS JESUS CHECKING IN TODAY.' If this blesses you, pass it on Many people will walk in and out of your life, But only true friends will leave Footprints in your heart. May God hold you in the palm of His hand And Angels watch over you. But for those of us who are already His, He not Only holds us in the palm of His hand, but has Engraved our names there, and we are continually In His sight (Isaiah 49:16) Please pass this page on to your friends & loved ones. If you aren't ashamed. Jesus said, ' If you are ashamed of me,' I will be ashamed Of you before my Father.' Yes, I do love God. He is my source of existence and Savior. He keeps me functioning each and everyday. Without Him, I Will be nothing. Without him, I am nothing but with Him 'I can Do all things through Christ that strengthens me.' Phil 4:13 |
